An ai-generated image of a man in a jail cell

This morning we reported that disgraced crypto magnate Sam Bankman-Fried was due to be sentenced in New York this morning, with the Prosecution looking for between a 40-50 year term and SBF’s defense team arguing a five-year term would be more acceptable.

The judge meanwhile had the ability to lock up Bankman-Fried and effectively throw away the key with a 110-year sentence but has just issued a 25-year sentence for his part in the collapse of the FTX cryptocurrency exchange.

Bankman-Fried was found guilty by the jury after just over five hours of deliberation last November.

Bankman-Frieds’ FTX had a $10 billion black hole in its accounts after money belonging to customers was used to make risky bets on crypto. A scheme that was to go horribly wrong.

FTX was valued at $32bn before it went bankrupt with Sam Bankman-Fried crafting an image that drew in celebrities, politicians, and business titans, according to the BBC.

Bankman-Fried’s victims remain out of pocket and while they may get some losses back, it is unlikely everybody will come out of the scandal unscathed.

Prosecutors described Bankman-Fried’s crimes as one of the biggest financial frauds in the history of the United States.

Handing down the sense Judge Lewis Kaplan said that despite “protestations of sorrow” about customer losses there was “never a word of remorse for the commission of terrible crimes”.

The judge refused to accept Bankman-Fried’s claim that his victims would be paid back in full as “misleading and logically flawed”.

“A thief who takes his loot to Las Vegas and successfully bets the stolen money is not entitled to a discount on the sentence by using his Las Vegas winnings to pay back what he stole.”

Earlier today Bankman-Friend took the stand and, while stopping short of a full apology said he had made a series of bad decisions that haunt him every day.

A photograph of the Moose and Moose Lite 3D scanners

3D-printing has never been so close to the mainstream with printers from Bambu Lab and Uniformation being as close to plug-and-play as any newcomer can get. What has been missing from the hobby so far however is a user-friendly method of being able to scan your own objects and turn them into 3D models to print out yourself. 3D scanners have existed for a while, but like the printers themselves, the technology is now speeding up and the price coming down.

Enter the Moose, from 3DMakerpro which has just kicked off its pre-sale today, and from the press release it sounds like it could be just what we are looking for: “(The Moose scanner are) beginner-friendly 3D scanners with AI visual tracking technology. The Moose series is 3DMakerpro’s latest consumer-grade 3D scanner line-up offering, designed to handle real-world medium-sized objects into 3D models with remarkable efficiency and precision.

“Powered by a set of AI features and in collaboration with Oqton, the developer of Geomagic Wrap, 3DMakerpro aspires to make 3D scanning easier and more accessible to beginners and advanced users in the creative field.”

“The Moose series brings consumer 3D scanning to new heights of accuracy and allows more users to benefit from the convenience of 3D scanning,” said Tianshi Yuwen, Global Marketing Director of 3DMakerpro. “Our dedication to innovation empowers us to democratize high-precision 3D scanning and push beyond the boundaries of making all creative visions a reality.”

The Moose comes in two different variants, the Moose and the Moose Lite with the latter costing $249 at pre-sale ($399 after) and the main Moose costing $454 ($699 after). The Lite’s scans are not as detailed and operate with a Mono texture mapping method, while the main Moose has full 24-color mapping.

Hopefully, we will get to see within the next couple of weeks whether 3DMakerpro has pulled this off, but initial signs look great, and those pre-order prices are tasty.

A glamor shot of the GameSir X2s.

GameSir announced the X2s a few weeks back and it certainly raised a lot of interest. An upgraded version of the X2 from a couple of years ago, especially now new iPhones all rock a USB-Type C port having ditched the Apple Lighting port opens up a whole new audience as well as the Android crew who could already utilize a device such as this.

Combine this with an increased interest in mobile gaming, and a wider offering with things such as Xbox Cloud Gaming, could mean that the stars align for little hand-held controllers like this that you can just throw in your bag and whip out when you need to.

GameSir sent us over an X2s for review, so we didn’t need to stump up the £50 asking price, but we will get into that later on. First, the controller itself.

So, what is the GameSir X2s?

A glamor shot of the GameSir X2s.
With no device attached, the X2s is barely bigger than an iPhone 15 Pro Max

There are lot of nice things about the X2s, despite its small appearance the body stretches out to fit a mobile phone up to 168mm long in between its buttons.

My phone is an iPhone 15 Max Pro which is around 160mm long. Throw on an Apple case for another couple of millimeters and I am getting towards the top end of tolerance.

The USB connection is at one side, so, orientating my phone that was and fitting it in was a little fiddly. The connector moves up and down (deliberately on sort of a rocker mechanism, which is quite cute, but with it moving while I was trying to connect didn’t make things easier.

Having inserted the USB as best I could I stretched out the other side to fit my iPhone in which was a push. I did accidentally let go before it was in properly and it snapped closed again, but that was my fault. The spring, after a few goes doesn’t seem quite so violent, either that or I just stopped being stupid, and now connection is a breeze.

Once you have a solid connection the only real indication that things have gone to plan is a tiny LED that will light up showing that the unit is drawing power from your phone. There are no batteries here so using it will drain your phone battery.

Thankfully it does have a USB passthrough connector on the bottom of the controller so you can always throw a charger or power bank in there as you play.

How does it feel?

A glamor shot of the GameSir X2s, side on.

Gaming with the X2s was a really pleasant experience to be fair. The joysticks are Hall-Effect switches, meaning they have magnets inside that measure resistance and are far more accurate and sensitive than what we normally get on this type of device. Also, they should not suffer from any dreaded Stick Drift and would be a welcome addition on the next set of Joycons Nintendo comes up with.

The buttons themselves are very small, those of us with big fingers may not enjoy fighting games on the X2s, but if you are looking to play racers, shooters, or even platformers you will be well served here. Just maybe avoid anything with a tricky combo.

The X2s in truth is barely bigger than my smartphone so is easy to just have with you for all the times on the bus or train you might feel like playing a game properly. The controller is responsive and it doesn’t seem as though it is a big battery hog. It just works, I was looking for some indication that it was even connected and operational, but once I loaded a game everything was seamless.

It has a retro styling like an old Nintendo handheld but the grey and lilac color scheme may not appeal to everybody. We think it still looks great though. Its biggest selling point is definitely the joysticks, which even come with rubber caps (and a spare set at that) to make it a bit more grippy.

Conclusion

A glamor shot of the GameSir X2s.
An iPhone 15 Pro Max stretches the X2s towards its upper limits.

At £50 it is not a throwaway purchase that a casual mobile gamer is likely to make to see if they like it. You are paying for a very neat little technology package but you have to be in the market for a good mobile controller.

Having said that other offerings from the like of Razer have been considerably more expensive, but you can still get a legit Xbox controller for less, although granted it doesn’t offer the same handheld convenience.

If you want to get in on the handheld gaming craze, don’t want to drop big money on a Switch, ROG Ally, or a Steam Deck, and want to utilize that stupidly powerful computer you carry around in your pocket every day instead, the X2s will certainly not let you down. Playing games console style is a huge step up from touchscreen controls and it is unlikely that if you buy this, you won’t come to love it very quickly.

It just depends on what you play and how often. You can order the X2s direct from GameSir’s website.

A cinematic image from the new No Man's Sky Orbital update

No Man’s Sky, alongside Cyberpunk 2077 is a gaming rarity in that it launched to a sea of derision, but is now so highly thought of in gaming spheres that it is up there with the best games of the last decade.

Unthinkable as that was back in 2016 when it launched, the team at Hello Games stuck to the task and tirelessly crafted and molded it into the game that was promised.

Now we are getting another of the frequent massive updates taking the game to v4.6. This one is called No Man’s Sky Orbital and sees a huge revamp of space stations in the game, along with a host of new starship customizations.

There is a ton of other stuff in the patch but below is the juice we are really interested in.

As with all NMS updates, we don’t need to wait, they launch as they are announced so you can jump in and get going on this one immediately. We are off to load it up right now.

What’s new in 4.6 No Man’s Sky Orbital

Space Stations

  • Space stations have been completely overhauled and refreshed.
  • Station exteriors now come in a huge array of procedurally generated shapes and colors, as well as at an increased scale.
  • Space station interiors are now procedurally generated.
  • Space station interiors now have a huge amount of lighting and visual variation.
  • Station interior designs now reflect the race of the local system authorities.
  • The various key space station merchants and interactions have all been visually refreshed.
  • Players can now use the Quick Menu to switch their docked ship while aboard the space station, provided the ship in question has functioning launch thrusters.

Starship Customization

  • A new interaction, the Starship Fabricator, has been added to the space station.
  • The fabricator allows you to build your own custom fighter, hauler, or explorer starship.
  • When salvaging a ship, the process can now be targeted at specific visuals, e.g. reclaiming the wings or thruster array specifically. These harvested components can then be combined to create a brand-new ship.
  • Purchase starship reactors from space station technology merchants to determine the stats and class of your new starship.
  • The fabricator also allows you to choose unique colors and paint styles for your new ship.
  • Starships salvaged from the wild or purchased from another pilot benefit from universal authentication, granting them a bonus to future trade-in values.

The multi-award-winning rhythm shooter, Metal: Hellsinger is being rebuilt for VR and will arrive this year for Quest 2, Quest 3, PCVR, PSVR2, and Quest Pro.

The original version which had you “slaying to the beat” of the pounding metal music, timing your demon-killing gunshots to the rhythm of the drum garnered over three million players as it smashed its way to 96% positive rating on Steam when it was released.

A VR incarnation has been highly requested by the community and the VR version includes the game’s legendary original score, with artists like Serj Tankian (System of a Down), Matt Heafy (Trivium), Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy), Randy Blythe (Lamb of God), and more.

“Metal: Hellsinger in VR is a match made in heaven, or should I say hell,” said Funcom’s Chief Marketing Officer, Erling Ellingsen. “Even when we were working on the original, we fantasized about how thrilling it would be to play in VR and many fans have been saying the same. Now that fantasy is coming true and there is no doubt: slaying demons to the rhythm of epic metal tracks, all in full-motion immersive VR, is just as incredible as we imagined it.”

VR and Metal: Hellsinger could be a match made in heaven, especially with the Quest 3 performing so well – yeah the music will certainly not be to anyone’s taste, but if the idea of a sort of rhythmic Doom aesthetic appeals then this will definitely be worth keeping an eye out for. The VR version is being handled by Lab42 who have previously worked on Crusader Kings III (hey, it’s all games right?) and Forza Motorsport.

Metal: Hellsinger VR comes to Meta Quest 2 & 3, Meta Quest Pro, PS VR 2, and Steam in 2024 – nothing more specific than that, and can be wishlisted now.

One of the world’s best-known streamers and Fortnite legend Tyler Blevins, aka Ninja has posted on his account on X that he is being treated for a type of skin cancer that has been found on his foot.

Posting the following message, Ninja urged his followers to get any skin spots they were unsure about checked out by a doctor:

“Alright, I’m still in a bit of shock but want to keep you all updated. A few weeks ago I went into a dermatologist for an annual skin/mole check that Jess proactively scheduled for me. There was a mole on the bottom of my foot that they wanted to remove just to be careful.

“It came back as melanoma, but they are optimistic that we caught it in the early stages. I had another dark spot appear near it, so today they biopsied that and removed a larger area around the melanoma with the hopes that under the microscope they will see clear non-melanoma edges and we will know we got it. I’m grateful to have hope in finding this early, but please take this as a PSA to get skin checkups.”

The 32-year-old streaming sensation from Detroit has almost 20 million followers on his Twitch channel so his message to get checked out will go far and wide.

Ninja was one of the first streamers to pick up on Fortnite Battle Royale when it was first released and has gone on to cement his spot as one of the most famous internet personalities of our time.

He has previously raided money for children’s hospitals, the Alzheimer’s Association, and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, using the reach of his platform for good causes.

It is hoped the illness has been caught early enough and highlights the need to be self-aware if you see new blemishes on your skin.

F-Zero remains the Nintendo franchise that so many people want to see rebooted properly and yet, nothing. Still, at least we have F-Zero 99 we can play on the Nintendo Switch for those times we don’t want to play its other famous racer Mario Kart.

F-Zero back in the day on the Super Nintendo was a phenomenon and is still much loved to this day. There were a few newer versions along the way and now we have F-Zero 99 paying homage to the old school but every addition to the racer’s back catalog is welcome.

This week Switch Online will get F-Zero: Maximum Velocity which made its first back on the Game Boy Advance.

Nintendo announced the arrival on it’s official X account:

“Calling all speed demons!

The Game Boy Advance classic F-Zero: Maximum Velocity races onto #NintendoSwitchOnline + Expansion Pack this Friday, 29/03!”

The arrival of F-Zero advance means we now have three of the four mainstream games on Switch online, the original, F-Zero X from the N64, and now this. So at some point, we will probably get the missing Gamecube game, F-Zero-X to complete our collection (which we don’t own because they are part of a subscription service, but hey-ho).

Meanwhile, F-Zero 99 also gets a new mode and some updates, Steer Assist will arrive as a feature for players who struggle with some of the cornering, as the game will get a new Practice mode as well, so that you can hone your skills without taking on the risk of losing real races on tracks you are unfamiliar with, In terms of new content the Knight League is getting a new Mirror Mode Grand Prix. This mode will be coming to the King and Queen Leagues at some point in the future.

All in all if you are F-Zero fan, get ready for Friday.

A character walks the streets of a town in Dragon's Dogma 2

Everybody loves a good mod and the fact we can get great ones for games such as Horizon’s Forbidden West and now, Dragon’s Dogma 2 makes us very happy.

The modders have been busy since launch making the game even better so we have hand-picked some of our favorite mods for DD2 right here. Mods are arriving all the time so we shall, of course, keep this page updated if anything better comes along, but for now, if you are serious about your Dragon’s Dogma gaming, get these installed!

Dragon’s Dogma 2 mods

Crazy’s Shop

In your face Capcom. Add lots of essentials as microtransactions on Steam. Sure, go ahead, the modders will fix that. With all the items Capcom is selling for extra in the game, albeit rare drops, this mod will allow you to get more of them easily from vendors in Vernworth.

The mod adds x255 Elite & Explorer Camp Kit, Wakestones, Rift Crystals, Farrystones, Beetles, and more to the shops in Vernworth and restocks every day. That’s way more than you will ever need but saves you the mental trauma of whether you need to spend extra to enjoy your game that bit more.

BetterUI – Colorful Map Icons

It seems we aren’t the only ones who struggle to make out some of the icons on Dragon’s Dogma 2’s map. This nice and simple mod replaces the oh-so-beige stick icons with ones that pop a little more, making it a bit easier on tired old eyes like ours.

Fluffy’s Mod Manager

One of the more complex mods behind the scenes at least is perhaps the simplest to explain what it does. Fluffy’s Mod Manager allows you to install and uninstall as many mods for DD2 as you like without messing around manually installing PAK files. Take the main out of improving your game and install Fluffy’s Mod Manager today.

Stutter & FPS Fix

This mod is a remarkably simple registry tweak that should help you experience less stuttering in towns and cities, even on older CPUs. If this is a problem your game is beset with, it may well be worth checking this one out.

An image of a Dragon's Dogma 2 character at a campfire

One of the more frustrating mechanics in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is stamina. With such a big open world to traverse, and Fast Travel opportunities being at a premium, the fact that Stamina is so limited, and therefore the chance to run around and get to places faster is gated behind leveling up, can get quite tedious, quite quickly.

How to give your stamina a boost

There are a couple of methods you can use to ease the pain a little, but ultimately, the biggest gains you can get to your Stamina stat only come from increasing your level. We assume by the time you get to the max level on 999 you can basically start running an Ultra-Marathon across the land.

While you are undertaking this leveling up however you can try a couple of different things that give you a small bonus.

Firstly, don’t overburden yourself. Doing so is disastrous to your stamina stat and will really hold you back, so do not carry any more than you absolutely have to at the start of the game. We know it is easy to just collect everything you see but this is a fool’s errand. Use your Pawn as a packhorse, or just leave less essential stuff behind in the first place.

Secondly, whenever you see a Golden Trove Beetle, collect it and it will buff your carry capacity, meaning you can lug more around before getting overburdened and running out of stamina quickly.

You can collect around 80 or so of the 120 in the game to buff your carrying capacity to its max level.

Beyond that, just follow our tips for leveling up quickly and you will soon stop noticing that your wheezing carcass has run out of stamina again.

Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077’s redemption arc is only rivaled by that of No Man’s Sky. A rare, near-perfect example of a game that over-promised big time, came out big-ridden, and was roundly panned by, well everybody, has bounced back over the last couple of years to make it a virtually unmissable piece of gaming.

Now considerably past its v2.0 and with a great DLC to boot, the game that was once removed from the PlayStation Store because it was such a mess is now in a position where, if you haven’t played it yet, you now have the chance to give it a try without it costing you a bean.

This Easter weekend, PlayStation and Xbox users can spend five hours, totally free in Night City as unveiled in a post on X from the official Cyberpunk 2077 account. While five hours might not seem an overly long time, it is more than enough to get you acquainted with the darker side of the neon city and try out the game for yourself, and the best bit is that you don’t need to have a subscription to either console’s services either, you can just download the trial from the respective stores and get cracking, the only caveat being it is within the dates of the trial. You do not have to use all five hours in one go either, you can come and go as you please.

An image showing the dates the Cyberpunk 2077 trial will run

When is the Cyberpunk 2077 trial available?

The Cyberpunk 2077 trial will run between 28th March and April 1st and you can see the times on the image.

The trial only applies to the base game and includes no Phantom Liberty content, but it is not like you would get that far into it anyway and there is still more than enough to do during your time in the game.

It’s quite possible you tried Cyberpunk 2077 during its diabolical launch and have never looked at it since, well this is the opportunity to put that right.

An image of the Arisen in Dragon's Dogma 2.

Giving gifts is important in Dragon’s Dogma 2, just as it is in real life, and who doesn’t love receiving flowers? The thoughtful gift that dies within days has got many a human out of a young, short-term spot over the ages and it seems things are no different in video games now.

A bunch of flowers is a solid go-to gift to help you schmooze your way into friendship or even romance with a host of DD2 NPCs. So, while it is easy to pick up single stems, how do we go about making a bunch of them?

How to make a bunch of flowers

Inventory screen in Dragon's Dogma 2

Well, what constitutes a bunch would you say – in Dragon’s Dogma 2, a bunch of flowers can be crafted merely by combining two flowers of a different type (there’s probably a science world that would be better there, but I refuse to give Google the business.)

Any, er breed of flowers can be used, Moonglow, Noonbloom, it doesn’t matter in the slightest. Flowers can be found on your travels, left around in nooks and crannies, and can be dropped, get two types and combine them to create a bunch.

Bunches of flowers are perishable however and the second you combine them there is a finite time until they die so don’t craft a bunch until you know yo are going to need it.

Bunches can also be bought from vendors, again these are perishable items so you can’t really stock up on them unless yu have a different fair maiden to woo in every street,

What to use flowers for

You need a bunch of flowers to complete the quest ‘The Gift of the Giving’ that you will pick up in Vernworth. Besides that, use them to gain favor with NPCs.

Now Sony has deemed PC gamers worthy of finally getting their hands on the stunningly beautiful Horizon Forbidden West, a couple of years after it amazed on the PlayStation, we are already beginning to see what PC modders can do with the game to make it even prettier. Here we are going to look at the best mods for Horizon Forbidden West, explain what they do, and help you decide if you want to install them into your own game.

Mods have started appearing that can make a huge difference to how the game looks, as well as ones that can unlock the later stages and the DLC if you have bought it (the DLC kicks in part way through the main story so you cannot play it from the off).

Best Horizon Forbidden West Mods

The majority of mods currently available work on either the look of the graphics or are save games you can add in to help you unlock later areas of the game. As these aren’t true mods as such we will gloss over those and start with some graphical enhancements for Aloy and her universe.

Giorma’s Photorealistic Reshade v1.0

A screen from Horizons Forbidden West showing a graphical enhancement applied

Reshades are always popular mods but also tend to be quite subjective when it comes to whether you like them or not. In case you don’t know Reshade is a program that injects, in layman’s terms, a filter over what you see, sort of like Instagram does in effect, to change the look of the graphics.

This Photorealistic Reshade does a nice job of toning down some of the brightness to give it a more realistic look. We would probably say Photorealistic is a bit of good PR rather than accurate, but it does provide a noticeably different feel to the affair.

No More Yellow Tint

A screen from Horizons Forbidden West showing a graphical enhancement applied

For reasons known only to the devs Horizon Forbidden West seems to have a weird yellow tint to its graphics, a tint that doesn’t seem to be needed, and more importantly, a tint that has been removed with this Reshade from ConsensusAI.

It definitely makes things look more natural. It seems churlish to complain about Horizon’s graphics because they are so good, but that does not mean they cannot be tweaked.

Visuals Enchanced

A screen from Horizons Forbidden West showing a graphical enhancement applied

We are taking the liberty of assuming that this Reshade mod should be called Visuals Enhanced and Enchanced is merely a typo, but that is whatit  is currently called, so who are we to argue?
Visuals Enchances also removes the yellow tint as above but also introduces more tropical greens and photorealistic coloring. At the moment it is probably our favorite graphical enhancement (enchancement?) mod out there.

We will update this page with new, cool mods, as and when they arrive.

An AI-generated image of Fog covering a city as we discover how to create Fog in Infinite Craft

Although one of the more simple recipes in the game, Fog is essential for so many other things. For example, we recently looked at how to create Death in Infinite Craft and part of the process for that used the very same cloudy substance.

You could say that Fog in Infinite Craft is one of the key building blocks, so it is essential to get it in your inventory as soon as you possibly can.

How to craft Fog

We only need a few steps to get Fog, in fact, we can use three of the four starting items and we are pretty much on our way to creating fog in Infinite Craft. Let’s crack on:

  • Fire + Wind = Smoke
  • Water + Water = Lake
  • Lake + Smoke = Fog

Now you have Fog you can also use it in plenty of other recipes which you may find useful. Here are a few examples, but feel free to mix and match it with whatever you have in your inventory already to see what you can come up with.

  • Fog + Fog = Cloud
  • Water + Fog = Ice
  • Lightning + Fog = Thunder
  • Ice + Fog = Frost
  • Swamp + Fog = Ghost
  • Frost + Fog = Snow
  • Sand + Fog = Desert
  • Hurricane + Fog = Storm
  • Plant + Fog = Mushroom
  • Dust + Fog = Smog

A new set of skins, seemingly from Fortnite has been leaked on X and appears to show characters from Guardians of the Galaxy, including a chunky version of Groot.

The post, from Fortnite leaker XTigerHyperX is completely devoid of any context and simply contains an image of what has been extracted from the game.

The images you see here are part of a much larger range of posts showing a lot of new Fortnite skins, emotes, and characters that have been extracted from the recent patch. Guardians of the Galaxy however is a set of characters that are bound to do well when they arrive in the Item Shop, and with the range of bling, emotes, and Lego versions of the characters, suggests we may even get an event based on the sci-fi franchise.

As mentioned, Lego iterations of the skins are present and correct as well meaning it looks like, when it eventually does arrive they will definitely be playable in Lego Fortnite too.

Lego Fortnite patch 29.10

Meanwhile, a new patch is due to land today, version 29.10 will bring official vehicle building into Lego Fortnite which follows on from the news about Lego Fortnite players being able to build new islands recently. The patch, dubbed “mechanical Mayhem” will “bring new ways to travel your world so you can embark on your biggest adventures yet!”

Three new vehicles, the Speeder, Offroader, and Hauler will be buildable once you have unlocked the recipes in the game.

Major improvements, adjustments, and bug fixes

Gameplay

  • New smart transfer feature: transfer all similar items to and from storage.
  • It’s easier to visually tell when your constructs take damage.
  • With the new vehicle building features, we had to adjust some durability values. We recommend using higher-rarity resources to strengthen your constructs if any part breaks.
  • Items can be dropped one at a time when a stack is picked up.
  • Pools of fish can be found near new (but somehow already run-down) docks that are alongside lakes and rivers.
  • Made improvements to constructs so they remain stable when entering and exiting caves.
  • Made stabilization fixes for constructs traveling large distances across the world.

Other

  • The Stormy Emote will be updated to its full, intended animation in LEGO Fortnite.

Grounded, the first major “Xbox exclusive” to make the leap to PlayStation and Nintendo Switch will get a huge, albeit final content update on launch day.

Grounded – Fully Yolked, which is version 1.4 will bring to an end content development for the game that first appeared as barely anything more than a demo in Early Access, bringing with it no more than 20& of the content of the final game. Since those days back in the middle of the pandemic the game has blossomed into one of the best examples of survival gameplay, copied by many, coupled with a great storyline and just being a pleasure to play all around.

It’s a sad day now that its effective end has been announced just as it arrives on new platforms but with such a lot added to the game by Obsidian in the last four years, it will remain a lot of fun to play for a lot of time to come.

April 16th is the date penciled in for the update to go live on all platforms, tying in with the PlayStation and Switch release on the same day.

New Game +

If you have maxed out your time in the Backyard and think you have done all there is to be done, the New Game + mode in the patch will stop and make you think again.

Once you have conquered the Broodmother, Mantis, and Wasp Queen, and emerged victorious in the Javamatic fight, you will get the option to travel to another dimension with Wendell’s new Remix.R device where you will face “different creature spawns, tougher bosses, and a host of eerie anomalies and hidden secrets in these otherworldly dimensions.”

New weapon upgrades will help you deal with these tougher enemies and you will be able to upgrade to become much more powerful than ever before.

Ant Queens

If you aren’t quite at New Game + level yet the main new content in 1.4 brings three new Ant Queens, ruling over each of the three ant colonies in the game.

You will face a crucial decision with each queen: to befriend or betray her with a delectable offering. The path you choose determines not only the unique rewards you’ll receive but will also shape how the entire colony reacts to you. But tread carefully – some decisions have ripple effects that might not be immediately obvious.

Other new features in Grounded 1.4

  • Hosts can now load a save while in the middle of a multiplayer session and all connected players will seamlessly transition into the new game world.
  • Full Japanese Voice Overs: Immerse yourself completely with full Japanese voice-overs, covering everything from the teen characters to BURG.L, cutscenes, and audio logs. Simply enable this feature from the Game Options menu.
  • The 1.4 update adds four new achievements, one new mutation, twelve Ant Queen-related buildings, new baby ant pets, and so much more we can’t list here!
  • Cross-play will be supported across Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Grounded’s 20 million-plus player community will be hugely excited and yet a little bit sad at today’s announcement, but it is still great to see the development of Grounded going out with a bang.

A sreenshot inside Ghostbusters' famous Firehouse.

Ghostbusters is riding high once again in movie theaters and, only one line into this story, the theme tune is already running around your head. Sorry about that.

Incoming free DLC for Ghostbusters: Spirit Unleashed brings the new movie, Frozen Empire with it. Fans will get to try their hand at taking down Garraka, master of the Death Chill and the newest villain to join Ghostbusters lore. Or maybe you want to play the baddies themselves and plunge the world into a new ice age. Either way, this DLC will let you live out experiences inspired by the new movie’s adventure.

“We have been so focused on building an immersive world, one fans would recognize and appreciate,” said Jared Gerritzen, Chief Creative Officer at IllFonic. “Our goal now is to double down on the feel. As a long-time Ghostbusters fan, I want to feel immersed. Our drive for DLC year two: heighten the fun, heighten the experience.”

IllFonic has planned four major DLC releases throughout 2024 and the game’s unique hide-and-seek take on gameplay with up to four Ghostbusters and one playable ghost makes for a fun multi-player blast.

Game Features:

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed has all the iconic gear and gadgets, from Proton Packs to P.K.E. Meters, and Ghost Traps that fans would expect and new gamers to the universe will enjoy when playing as a Ghostbuster. In addition, many will recognize the Firehouse and Ray’s Occult Books that act as the game’s hub. This is where players will choose missions, customize their characters, practice firing their particle throwers, and explore all there is to learn. And yes, you will hear the original film actors reprising their roles as Ray Stantz and Winston Zeddemore, along with some new friends!

  • As the Ghost – Ghosts have multiple abilities in their arsenal, like possessing objects, of course, sliming, and more, that make haunting all the various locations a blast to play. Choose from up to five Ghosts with unique skills, ultimate abilities, and commendable minions fueled by ectoplasm. Fly around public locations and possess an inordinate amount of inanimate objects to evade pursuing Ghostbusters. Frighten citizens until they flee in fear, prank unsuspecting Ghostbusters, and hide your rifts to spawn safely in case you get trapped.
  • As a Ghostbuster – Be one of the four proton pack-wielding Ghostbusters and attempt to catch a Ghost haunting unique locations with your trusty ghost trap and tools. Use the P.K.E. Meter to sniff out rifts that act as the Ghost’s spawn points and destroy them with your Proton Pack’s particle thrower before the Ghost completes their haunt. As players progress, they will unlock cosmetics and upgrades for both Ghostbusters and Ghosts to evolve their gameplay experiences. The look and feel will deliver to fans an immersive experience in the universe, allowing them to play out their Ghostbusting fantasies.
  • Locations – Explore multiple unique locations, including a museum, winter lodge, docked ship, multi-leveled prison, an active brewery, and more. Complete challenges, customize your Ghostbuster and Ghosts and locate hidden spores, mold, and fungus to gain access to more unlockables.

An AI-generated image of the landmarks of Japan made out of crafting materials.

Japan is super popular in culture at the moment, from the excellent Shogun TV series to Godzilla, Tokyo Vice, Rise of the Ronin, and Ghost of Tsushima, we don’t seem to be able to move for the Land of the Rising Sun. Surely you can make it in Infinite Craft though. Of course you can.

How to craft Japan

Konnichiwa Infinite Crafters, today we are going to make one of the most popular countries in the game, but one a lot of people seem to be struggling with. We can get there in just over 23 stages and as ever, if you have been playing for a while you probably have some of the needed items in your inventory already, so have a scan through the list first to see if you can save yourself a little work.

  • Earth + Water = Plant
  • Plant + Plant = Tree
  • Earth + Wind = Dust
  • Dust + Tree = Wood
  • Water + Water = Lake
  • Fire + Wood = Campfire
  • Lake + Water = Ocean
  • Campfire + Earth = Charcoal#
  • Fire + Water = Steam
  • Dust + Earth = Planet
  • Lake + Ocean = Sea
  • Earth + Fire = Lava
  • Charcoal + Charcoal = Coal
  • Plant + Steam = Tea
  • Planet + Wind = Storm
  • Lava + Sea = Stone
  • Coal + Lava = Diamond
  • Storm + Tea = Tempest
  • Diamond + Stone = Jewel
  • Ocean + Tempest = Tsunami
  • Jewel + Ocean = Pearl
  • Pearl + Tsunami = Pearl Harbor
  • Earth + Pearl Harbor = Japan

Now we have Japan, see if you can go on to make some classic monsters such as Godzilla and the like.

An AI generated image of the Grim Reaper making origami models.

You may be wondering how to create the most infinite state of all in Infinite Craft, that of Death. It’s about as Infinite as it comes, and a great tool to have in our box of IC tricks.

How to craft Death

When you think about it, it is obvious enough. To make Death we need to first make Life. While that might sound like an ancient Japanese proverb, the same is actually true of creating Death in Infinite Craft.

So how do we go about getting Life itself? Here’s the recipe. As ever you may already have some of these by now, so it won’t take you as many steps to get there.

How to get Life in Infinite Craft

  • Earth + Wind = Dust
  • Wind + Fire = Smoke
  • Fire + Water = Steam
  • Water + Smoke = Fog
  • Earth + Dust = Planet
  • Planet + Fog = Venus
  • Venus + Steam = Life

From here it is really quick to get life’s opposite number. We need a little help from the undead so we are going to make a vampire. Really simple this one. Take your newly combined Life and mix it with smoke.

Life + Smoke = Vampire

Now mix Life with Vampire to complete the puzzle.

Life + Vampire = Death

Mission accomplished. Now one last step to complete everything we set out to do.

Death + Death = Grim Reaper

A screenshot of an archer in Dragon's Dogma 2

Fresh from the knowledge that Dragon’s Dogma 2 has a very high max level cap of level 999, you would be sensible to be asking as your next question how you can go about farming XP as quickly as possible to get you up through the levels is the most economical way. There are several ways you can max out your game time to gather as much XP as possible so we have put them together in this handy guide.

Level quickly in Dragon’s Dogma 2

More or less anything you do within the game will help boost your XP, but there are definitely certainly things you should consider concentrating on if you want it to go out quicker so you can climb the ranks. We have broken a few down below.

Kill every enemy

There is a lot to be said for not avoiding a fight. The harder the enemy the more XP you gain, and while it can be draining sometimes just constantly fighting everything if you limit yourselves to bursts of slaughter then things might seem a bit less repetitive. It is always worth seeking out enemies that have a purple health bar and engaging them as they will offer up more XP in return for their untimely demise.

Complete your quests

The main quest, which you will probably be playing by default will lead you through the story and offer up XP as you complete these sections. If you totally ignore the main quest to play the game your way then you will miss out on vital boosts early doors.

NPC Sidequests

As you may expect completing sidequests will boost your XP. It’s up to you how many you take on, and they are probably not as valuable early on as the main quest progression, but they can break up the mass killing and gain you XP at the same time.

Graveyards

If you are not easily spooked a bit of a moonlight wander through the gravestones can be quite rewarding as the spawning of skeletons and zombies with worth the trek. Again, you can pick and choose your fights to take on only the toughest you think you can manage for the biggest XP gain.

Farming XP in Dragon’s Dogma 2

If you want to cheese your way through some early gains you can concentrate on killing ogres. Initially, these are not the easiest to beat but do offer a good healthy XP risk/reward. Beat them, camp for the night and when you wake up the ogre will have respawned for easy XP. It’s a bit silly to keep doing it but we know that won’t stop some of you. It is also something that is likely to get patched out sooner rather than later.

A screenshot from Dragon's Dogma 2

So the Dragon’s Dogma 2 journey has started for you and you want to try and get some kind of handle on how long it will take to max out your character. For a game that is a follow-up to one that was last seen 12 years ago, and we might not see another for a further decade, as you can imagine, reaching the top level in DD2 is not going to be easy, but what exactly are we up against here?

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Max Level

Going into Dragon’s Dogma 2 we already knew that the original DD had a max level cap of 200 so we were always expecting it to be around this or somewhere north of that number. Not the case. The max level you can reach in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is an astonishing Level 999. And no, that is not a typo.

Whereas games such as Final Fantasy VII Rebirth are happy with their max levels around the 70 mark, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is going to make you grind for a living if you are one of those obsessive types who simply have to max out your Arisen.

Pawns also have a max level of 999 so, let’s be honest, for most people getting anywhere close to these numbers is going to take months if not forever and many will not be bothered. However, if you are one of the brave few who give it a go, we will see you next winter.

Max Vocation Rank in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Each vocation also has a top cap as well but thankfully this is not anything killer. Every Vocation’s top rank is 19m and climbing the ranks relies on you gaining Discipline Points (DP) which are mainly obtained by winning fights, making scrapping an important part of your rank climb.
